How should designers respond to urban uncertainty? How can we ensure our urban heritage is protected against urban risks and climate change? This volume addresses current trends and challenges, that explore on how we transform our urban heritage in ways which increase urban resilience embracing innovation and technology. Part one provides a critical view in driving forward a new conception of urban transformation that should respond to current concerns around economic, social and urban change. Part two underscores the importance of the current perception of urban and architectural design that can take into consideration climate change.
Dimitra Babalis
is Associate Professor of Urban Planning and Design at the University of Florence, Italy.
She is a Visiting Academic Scholar at various European Universities; Co-ordinator and Chair of European Programmes and International Workshops; Founder and Chair of the International Group on Urban and Architecture Design. She is currently developing research on sustainable waterfront regeneration; Sustainable design of urban micro spaces in shaping change. She is Editor and Author of a number of scientific books (recently: URBAN CHANGE and Sustainability. A Collection, 2012; WATERFRONT CITY. Waterside Regeneration in Scotland, 2014).
