The aim of the EMotion project is to combine both technological aspects and respect for the territory and its history. The main axis considered in this project is the Asmara-Massawa road. The challenges of a new mobility in this part of Eritrea could be met and overcome by preserving the pre-existing historic infrastructure: an extraordinary and vulnerable cultural heritage, consisting of a unique road and a railway, crossing natural and cultural landscapes and connecting archaeological, historical-artistic and architectural sites; the road itself is a summation of artefacts and monuments to be protected and enhanced.
A multidisciplinary team, including archaeologists, architects, geologists and engineers has contributed to the research. The vision of the project represents an ideal and real bridge to enhance the transferring of goods, ideas, knowledge and values and promote the connection of people.
is an Architect and Associate Professor of Preservation at the Politecnico di Milano, School of Architecture Urban Planning Construction Engineering. Since 1997, she has been the Scientific Coordinator of the “Techniques for the Conservation and Management of Architectural Heritage” Laboratory at the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies (DAStU). Her research interests include the field of diagnostics and built conservation. Since 1987, she has been the author of about 150 articles and publications in the field of preservation and the coordinator in National and International Research and Projects.
has a M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (Politecnico di Milano 1981). He has been Full Professor in Applied Mechanics at the Politecnico di Milano since 2000. His scientific activity was developed mainly in the field of vehicle dynamics: tires, performance, handling and comfort, active control, safety, hybrid/electrical vehicles, ADAS systems, autonomous vehicles. Coordinator in National Research and Europeans Projects, he participates in the experimentation project of the new fast 5G network in the metropolitan area of Milan, applied to the safety of mobility and TEINVEIN project (innovative technologies for intelligent vehicles, European Regional Development Fund). He has extensive experience as technical and scientific leader in many research projects in cooperation with public and private companies.
